We support our Sisterhood by providing our energy and our funds to promote the ideals of Judaism and to provide meaningful programming for the Temple Oheb Shalom community. We are a very active, vibrant group of women who support Temple in many ways.
Every Tuesday morning finds our eager learners studying with clergy and each other. Fueled by bagels and coffee, insightful readings and in-depth discussions take place. During the year, we are treated to clergy book reviews, leading to more discussion! All are invited to join us at 10:15. We encourage gentlemen to participate as well. There is also a Day of Games in February at which time we have a catered brown bag lunch and we either play cards, Mah Jongg or Bingo with prizes.
A significant purpose of Sisterhood, besides social activity, is supporting the many needs of the Temple. Some of the things we have purchased for Temple include: Breast Plate for the new Torah; new robes for the Rabbis and Cantor; decorations for the Sukkah; annual Camp Scholarships for our Religious School students; computers and other equipment for the Religious School; chairs and tables for the Conference Room; the organ in the Chapel; the Brides Chuppah; donations to the Capital Campaign; supplies for Rosh Hodesh, equipment for the administrative offices, etc.
As you can see, the sisterhood, empowered by you, our members, continually and cheerfully reach out where needed.
