Philosophy of Education
Our primary educational goal is to instill a love for Judaism and the Jewish community in every child who walks through our doors. It is our hope that every alumnus of Temple Oheb Shalom Religious School can and will be a full participant in Jewish communal life.
It is also our mission to make Jewish education as accessible to your family as possible. To allow you to make Jewish education a priority, we offer weekend only programming, Hebrew@Home internet access for Hebrew study at home, and an open door policy for parent and guardian participation.
Special Progams
Family Education/Beit Midrash
Beginning with our Kindergarten “Pages of Fun” Book Club through Sixth Grade B’nai Mitzvah preparation, our Family Education Beit Midrash creates an environment for true multigenerational Jewish learning; parents with parents, children with children and families with families. With this interactive program your family will gain the tools needed for life-long Jewish learning.
Clergy Breakfasts
Each student and their family is invited once a year to an informal Sunday morning breakfast with their classmates and our clergy. These gatherings provide an opportunity to create relationships with the families of your child’s classmates and allows your family to get to know and create relationships with our clergy.
Independent learning center
We understand a traditional classroom is not always the best learning environment for every child. The Independent Learning Center (ILC) was created to provide a safe, controlled space where children can learn at their own pace and in their own way. Each ILC child has an individualized curriculum and their progress is measured by personal growth and improvement, not by grades. The ILC is open to all students in grades 3 - 7.
Israel updates
Every other month students in gr. K-6 gather around a 30-foot inflatable map of Israel for a special snack and discussion of Israeli geography and current events
