Rabbi Steven FinkRabbi Steven Fink is passionate about being a rabbi and tending to the needs his congregation.  Every day is another opportunity to serve God and the Jewish people.  He is a past-President of the Baltimore Board of Rabbis and plays an important leadership role within the Jewish community and all of metropolitan Baltimore.  Rabbi Fink is especially known as a bridge builder between the Jewish and non-Jewish community, having very close relationships with the African-American churches, the main line Christian churches, and the archdiocese of Baltimore.  A passionate advocate for Tikun Olam (the repair of the world), Rabbi Fink inspires his congregants to participate in the life of Baltimore City, doing what we can to make this a better and safer place to live.

Rabbi Fink was called to the pulpit of Temple Oheb Shalom in 1999, to succeed Rabbi Donald Berlin after his twenty-three years of distinguished service.  Oheb Shalom has gone through many changes during Rabbi Fink’s tenure.  It is today one of the most vital and dynamic congregations in Baltimore.  Rabbi Fink is very proud of having a great staff team with whom to work on behalf of Oheb Shalom each and every day.

Born and raised in West Caldwell, New Jersey, Rabbi Fink graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1973 and was ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1979.  In 1999, he earned a Doctorate of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary in congregational revitalization.  He has been married to Sally Fink, a respected Jewish educator in her own right, whom he met while serving as student rabbi in her synagogue, for thirty-eight years.  They now have six children, Nathaniel and Dana Fink, Miriam and Jared Surdin, Benjamin Fink and Harris Kaplansky.  Sally and Steve spend what little free time they have watching movies, reading, being with family, and taking their Boxer, Lucy, to the dog park.
