Rabbi Sarah Marion grew up in Westchester, NY, and graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University in May 2008 with degrees in Near Eastern and Rabbi Sarah MarionJudaic Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies. Prior to attending rabbinic school, she worked as a full-time youth educator at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, MA, and spent several summers as a counselor and unit head at the Union for Reform Judaism’s Eisner and Crane Lake Camps.

During her rabbinic studies at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s New York campus, Rabbi Marion earned her M.A. in Religious Education and completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education while serving as a multi-faith chaplain at Beth Israel Medical Center and Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. As a rabbinic student, Rabbi Marion served congregations in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Stamford, CT, and Larchmont, NY.

Though she is excited and energized by all areas of rabbinic work, Rabbi Marion is particularly passionate about youth and family engagement. In recent years, she has focused on adolescent identity and the parent-teen relationship. In conjunction with her education and rabbinic theses exploring the Jewish mother-daughter relationship, she facilitated initiatives for teens on gender and sexuality and created and led a monthly learning program for mothers of adolescent girls.

Rabbi Marion, her husband, Seth, and their daughter, Michaela Rae, are thrilled to be a part of Temple Oheb Shalom’s “family of families.” In her free time Rabbi Marion enjoys cooking, yoga, traveling, and, most of all, experiencing the joys of parenthood – a journey that she is excited to share with her Oheb Shalom family in the coming months and years.
